The Prospect KC: Gumbo Festival
Who doesn't love a good pot of Gumbo? Gumbo is the most well-known and popular dish in the south. Thousands of variations exist on traditional gumbos, including seafood, chicken, and/or sausage with or without okra. A roux is a combination of fat and flour used to keep the soup together. When things were tough in the south, people added whatever they had to make a gumbo dinner in their pantry. Adding different foods and spices to a delicious gumbo requires as much creativity as the process itself.
Tour de Bier
The Tour de Bier is a fun, social bike ride that explores Kansas City's historic neighborhoods and local craft breweries. It is the city's biggest one day bike ride, and has been named "Best Bike Ride" multiple times in The Pitch's Best of KC.

Join us this First Friday for the very first Vine Street silent disco experience! On Kansas City's most famous corridor, we're bringing selections of House, Funk, R&B, Hip-Hop and the sounds of Kansas City curated by three DJs. Reserve a pair of headphones and switch between the three stations.

He’ll share intimate details about his early life, how he became a film critic, the history of black, why Will Smith slapped Chris Rock and share some of his favorite films.
